Australia Tour to Sri Lanka

Published by Shane Warne

It is still weird seeing my name as part of a international cricket series name, I am not sure I will ever get used to it! However, I was very pleased to see the Australians secure it and bring the trophy home, well done boys.

It was Michael Clarke’s first series as captain and I thought he did a great job, well done mate. It was especially pleasing to see him finish the series on a personal high as well with a century.

It was also a great series for many others. Mike Hussey continued his resurgence with an amazing series with the bat, his form over the past 8 matches has been vintage Huss! Shaun Marsh made a hundred on debut and backed in up with 80-odd in the second innings and looks every bit the Test cricketer many have expected him to be, well done Shaun.

Phil Hughes got better as the series progressed and finished with a hundred, which will give him a lot of confidence going into the South African series. He will be watched closely but will have confidence after doing so well on his last tour there.

Ryan Harris again showed us why he has to play if he is fit. Trent Copeland made his debut and looked like he may be around for quite a while. He provided something different and bowled very well and, considering how inexperienced he is, is only going to get better. Nathan Lyon bowled very well on the spin friendly deck at Galle. His tour to South Africa will tell us more; I hope he keeps growing in the role.

All in all, it was a really good series for the Aussies. I was pleased they played a few new faces and I look forward to those guys forming the backbone of the team for years to come.

I am looking forward to seeing them take on the South Africans and then the Indians later this year!

I am a sri lankan. Though australia played pretty well there. Australia have great possibilities to win 2015 world cup. I guess AUS - PAK would make finals.
