My WSOP journey is over and I am devastated, having been so close to the money. The top 666 of the something like 6800 players get paid, and I came about 740th. I started the day with 100,100 in chips which was a good position in the field.

A couple hours into play I called all in on a flop of 7 4 2 with pocket eight's (88) to a guy who I thought was bluffing. I was right - he only had Ace-8 so all I had to do was dodge an ace with two cards to come. Success, and I climb up to 160,000 in chips, feel good and cruising along.

I was then unlucky losing pots with 77 vs Ace-Queen (AQ player all in before the flop) and losing with Ace-King against a worse hand. I got down to just less than 100,000.

My last hand was this, as reported by PokerNews;
Anahit Galajian moved all in from the cutoff after it was folded around to her. Shane Warne called from the button before Steven Landfish reraised enough to put Warne all in. Warne made the call so we had a three-way showdown.

Galajian: J9
Warne: TT
Landfish: AK

The board ran AQ348. The ace was enough to give us a double-knockout including Cricket legend, Shane Warne.

I really enjoyed my time in Vegas for the World Series of Poker, and am eagerly awaiting the next poker tournament. I am playing in South Africa in September and then the internationally televised 888 Poker Open in London in November. Freerolls and qualifiers for this event are running now at 888 Poker, so qualify now and join me on TV in the limited entry 888 Poker Open. I am looking forward to that one. I am off to London now on the next flight for some appearances and for 888 beer and barbie home game in London.

Good luck to those left in the WSOP. Another 888 player, Tony Clark (from Australia), has chips and playing well so good luck mate.

Why didn’t you 3bet the TT to isolate?  A raise and a reraise makes it hard for anyone behind you to call…

Warney’s on the button, there’s a push, no matter what he does here, the AK is always either calling or raising warney all in… Just unlucky.  Nice work shane… The hand I would have let go was your 77, though i dunno what the chip situation was there… Anyway, awesome effort for a first time, very unfortunate not to stick it out for a cash on debut.

Tough luck Warney.  I agree with Mike, AK is not gonna fold and calling with 77 vs all-in AQ may have been avoided.  But that’s how it is with Poker.  Warney great job on your first try, we would have loved to see you finish in the Money.  You still finished more than 5000 spots ahead of Ivey and Daniel.

Great Job coaching and motivating the Royals.

I was just wondering whether Warney would trade all his Wickets against England for the WSOP Main Event Bracelet lol.
