Yesterday I played the first round of the 888 Poker Open in London. There are 6 players in each TV show, and on my table was the infamous Tony G, other pros Barny Boatman and Barry Hearn, and 2 internet qualifiers.

This was my first time on a tv table so that was exciting. Tony G and Barry Hearn liked to talk it up, so the table banter was great. I played fairly tight, but also didn't get a lot of good hands. But I powered through and managed to end up heads up with Tony G. Tony has a lot more chips than me and when I was all in with the best hand he managed to out draw me to win the heat. Tony played well, and if since it wasn't me that won it, I am glad it was him. Tony goes direct to the semi-final, but since I came second I get another chance to reach the finals which I play on Wednesday. Really looking forward to that. Another Aussie from Melbourne, Larry Papadinis came second in the next round so he also gets to join me in the second chance table.

I look forward to seeing it on TV. It will air on Sky in the UK in January, and then in Australia and other countries a little later. Jeff Fenech also player his first round yesterday, but didn't make it through. Better luck next time mate!.

It would be great to see you and perhaps also Joe Hachem at CAP Down Under next week in Sydney. I understand that one or two of your sponsors are behind the event also.  News media and gaming media are doing to be all over it.  Here’s to success. Greg Tingle

Warnie. Keep winning at 888.com and Pacific Poker.  It was great to meet and speak with your poker “partner in crime”, Jeff Fenech at CAP Down Under in Sydney, which I chaired.  I don’t think our mate and associate, Max Markson, taught you or Jeff how to play poker, but perhaps did share some ideas on how to hustle. As mentioned to Jennifer at the 888 stand, its awesome the way that a growing group of elite Australian sportsmen are making the cross over to professional poker. The rumour is that a major Australian AFL star will also be making the cross over. How could be next… Australian pro surfing stars… Bra Boys or perhaps a pro wrestler.  Stranger things have happened. Keep pumping our the good stuff for poker news and news media.
